Barefoot Ballerina

• Dancers can begin this class if also enrolled in Emerald Step Up. This is a barefoot class focusing on body alignment and strengthening. For young dancers who want to start pursuing more intense ballet training.

Pre-Pointe

• Dancers can begin this class if also enrolled in Sapphire or above. This class is a barefoot class focusing on body alignment and strengthening. Plan to take this class in the fall, the spring, and the summer.
  
  After students take three semesters of Pre-Pointe, they can register for demi-pointe. If they choose not to participate in the summer session, they’ll need to begin the following dance year with an additional semester of pre-pointe before progressing to demi-pointe.

Demi-Pointe

• At the end of your 3rd semester of Pre-Pointe, you’ll be able to purchase your demi-pointe shoes. These shoes allow dancers to learn the feel of pointe shoes and to train their feet by utilizing the extra resistance provided by the shoes. The girls never go on to the tips of their toes in this class since the Demi-Pointe shoes do not have the hard shank of a full pointe shoe. Plan to take this class in the fall, spring, and summer.
  

Pulse Pointe

• For students who pass the test to enter Pulse Ballet, you can begin taking pointe during your regular technique classes IF you have successfully completed the pointe readiness rubric. Pulse ballet instructors will monitor student progress routinely as part of class.
